Masters World Cup
The Masters World Cup for Cross Country Skiing will be held in McCall Idaho in 2008. McCall, Idaho is known as “SKI TOWN USA” for its great snow conditions, and it’s history of being the second oldest winter recreational area in Idaho. McCall has hosted several international, national and regional events over the decades. Ski Town, USA got its beginnings during the early 1920’s and 1930’s when Finnish settlers introduced not only cross country skiing to the area, but also ski jumping and alpine skiing. In 1937, the Payette Lakes Ski Club was formed and offered skiing at the “Little Ski Hill”. This began a tradition that now spans over seven decades of skiing in the McCall area. Additionally, in 1965 Ponderosa State Park was formed and has been providing Nordic ski trails for over 25 years, with over 35,000 Nordic skier visits a year.
