Second Sunday Sounds "Out of the Blues"

Out of the Blues, a local duo composed of Marti Wegner and Annie Jedlick, will perform on May 11 as part of the "Second Sunday Sounds at Six" free recital series. The free performance will begin at 6pm May 11 at the McCall Community Congregational Church, 901 First St., McCall.

"Grease" at M-D High School

The McCall-Donnelly High School Drama and music department will jointly produce a spring musical, "Grease" by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, in six performances at the Alpine Playhouse. Performances begin at 7:30 on May 1-2. Ticket cost is $5 and go on sale at the high school office.

Spring Craft Fair

The Cascade Senior Citizen Center will hold its annual Spring Craft Fair on Saturday, April 26 from 10am to 4pm. Crafts, food and fun will be featured during the fair with beautiful crafts and gifts on sale, just in time for Mother's Day. There will also be chili, chili-cheese dogs, pie, ice cream and coffee. Spanish for Adults

A few more seats are available for the spring session of Spanish for Adults class to start April 17 at McCall Public Library. The class will meet on Thursdays from 5 to 6pm and emphasizes basic conversational Spanish. Sessions will continue through May 29. For more info visit McCall Library.

Rupert's Winetasting Cellar Series

Rupert's Restaurant's first wine tasting hapy hour, called the Cellar Series, will begin at 6pm Thursday, April 10. The tasting will begin with German wines from the Rheingau, Mosel anf Pfalz. Reps from Idaho Wine Merchant and Valckengerg International will host the event. Seating is limited so call Ruperts at 634-8108 to save a seat or for more info.

A collection of large print Western-themed books is now available at the McCall Public Library as part of a cooperative of two library groups. The collection will change every two months under a program sponsored by the South West Idaho Rural Library System and Valley Mountain Library Constortium.

The Easter fun begins at 11am at the March 22 at Meadows Valley High School. The event has been moved indoors because of snow. All ages are welcome, and four age groups will be designated. Baskets will be goiven to all youths, including a grand prize basket. For more info call 207-347-2366.

"I'd like to send a huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped to make the Masters World Cup in McCall such a great event. I don't think the week could have possibly been any better. I can't express my gratitude enough. I'd also like to thank the participants, especially those who traveled here from far away lands. Your presence and friendly smiles enriched our town. Kayaker Whit Deschner at Little Ski Hill

Adventure Kayaker Whit Deschner will present his travelogue "80 Delays Around the World In Pursuit of the Legendary Shangra Kola River" at the Little Ski Hill Lodge this Thursday March 6. The free session, which starts at 7:30pm, will detail Deschner's life-long pursuit of the perfect Kayak river. His shows have been seen throughout Great Britain, the US and Canada. He recently was featured at the Fort William Mountain Film Festival in Scotland, and his book, "Travels with a Kayak" won the Benjamin Franklin award for humor.

McCall Climbing Club being formed

A local McCall man wants to start a local climbing club for those interested in learning mountaineering skills. Andrew Fulton wants to teach mountaineering skills to allow local residents to further explore and challenge themselves. Fulton relocated to the McCall area in September from Las Vegas. He has been a prefessional climbing and mouataineering instructor since 1995 and has been a guide in many mountain ranges in the West. To express interest or for information call 208-325-3744.

Sierra Prindle named Winter Carnival Queen

Sierra Prindle of McCall was named queen of the 2008 McCall Winter Carnival. Prindle is the daughter of Tammy and Bruce Prindle. Names as first princess was Melissa Dammerman, daughter of Larry and christie Dammerman of McCall and the secnd princess was Kelsea Moore, daughter of Troy and Deannah Moore of McCall. The competition was open to juniors and Senoirs at McCall Donnelly High School. A panel of judges selected the winners from written applications, which included an essay on the carnoval's theme of "Wild, Wild West." Cash awards were given to the winners. Congratulations to all the The McCall Winter Carnival Queens!

St. Valentine's Benefit Dinner

"Steppin' Out" is the theme of a St. Valentine's Day dinner to be held Saturday, February 16, to benefit the McCall Improvement Committee. The event will begin at 6pm at the North Fork Lodge, located inside the McCall RV Resort, with no-host cocktails and be folowed by dinner, dancing and a live auction. Great Idaho Tubing Races

Sports fans interested in doing something wild at McCall's "Wild Wild West" Winter Carnival should head to the Great Idaho Tubing Races on Tuesday, Jan. 29. The races will be held at The Activity Barn, located on Moonridge Rd. off Mission St. near The McCall Airport. Entry in the races is free for anyone buying a pass, which costs $8 per hour, $13 for two hours and $49 for a family pass. Winners will be the tube riders who shoot down the hill the farthest. Great prizes will be given, including tubing passes, season passes and many other prizes. See you at The Carnival!

McCall Area Snowmobile Fun Run will take place on February 2nd at 9:00 am. The McCall Area Snowmobile Club's Annual Winter Carnival Fun Run. 1st Place is $500.00, 2nd Place is $250.00. This year is a raffle. You can get your raffle tickets at different check points throughout the Fun Run. Must be present to win. Take West Mountain Road-Follow Signs. 2008 Snow Sculpting Championship

Teams of artists are invitred to take part in the 22nd annual Idaho State Snow Sculpting Championship to be held Jan. 29 through Feb. 1, which is midweek of The McCall Winter Carnival. Harmonica Festival Tickets On Sale Jan. 7

Tickets will go on sale January 7 for the 2007 Yellow Pine Harmonica Festival to be held as part of the 2008 McCall Winter Carnival. Harmonica organizers have announced that Idaho First Bank has signed on to become the exclusive source for advance ticket reservations to the festival. The event will be held Friday and Saturday February 1-2 at The Pancake and Christmas House starting at 4pm each day. Tickets are $20 for both days and can be reserved by phone by calling (208) 630-2025. Tickets can be picked up at the bank by Friday Feb. 1. In addition to being able to reserve tickets in advance, listeners of KMCL radio Mountain Air 101 will be able to win tickets during the on-air promotion of the event the week of The Winter Carnival.
